Wabii

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Wabii ("Wabii," "we," "us," or "our") is a journaling app built around self-awareness. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Wabii, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Wabii mobile app and the wabiiapp.com website.

Wabii is currently in early access and has not launched publicly. By using Wabii, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (or, if you sign up with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us). We don't ask for your name, date of birth, or any other identifying information at signup.

Content you create

This is the core of what Wabii stores: the journal entries you write, any messages you exchange with Wabii's in-app reflection chat, voice recordings you compose entries with (which are transcribed to text and then discarded), tags Wabii or you attach to entries, and anything you type into search within the app.

Information generated from your content

To power Wabii's core feature — surfacing patterns you didn't consciously connect — we generate a few things from your entries: numerical representations of your entries used to find related entries ("embeddings"), AI-written observations about recurring themes ("theme insights"), and periodic AI-written summaries ("weekly digests").

Device and usage information

We store your device's timezone (so reminders and digests land at the right time) and a push-notification token if you enable notifications. Wabii does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software — we don't know what you tap, how long you use the app, or your location.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the core functionality of the app: storing your entries, letting you search them, and surfacing patterns across them.
  • To generate the AI reflections, theme insights, and weekly digests described above.
  • To transcribe voice recordings into text when you choose to compose an entry by speaking.
  • To send reminders and notifications you've opted into.
  • To detect language associated with self-harm or crisis and respond with safety information rather than an AI-generated reply (see Section 5).
  • To respond to support requests, including requests to export or delete your data.

We do not use your journal content for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles from your usage of Wabii. Wabii has no ads.

3. AI processing and third-party service providers

Wabii relies on a small number of service providers to operate. We choose providers carefully and only share what's necessary for them to do their job.

  • Supabase — our database, authentication, and backend infrastructure provider. All of your account and content data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — when you use in-app reflection chat, or when Wabii generates theme insights or weekly digests, the relevant entry or message content (and related past entries needed for context) is sent to Anthropic's API for processing.
  • OpenAI (Whisper) — when you compose an entry by speaking, the audio is sent to OpenAI's transcription API to convert it to text, and the audio itself is not retained by Wabii after transcription.

Your entries are never used to train AI models. Both Anthropic and OpenAI process this content through their commercial APIs, and under both providers' API terms, data submitted through the API is excluded from being used to train their underlying models. This is different from consumer chat products from the same companies, which may have different defaults — Wabii only ever uses the API terms, which exclude training use.

We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share your content with data brokers, advertisers, or any party other than the service providers listed above and, if you choose to use it, the sharing feature described in Section 4.

4. Sharing with a mental health coach

Wabii lets you optionally generate a temporary link to share a window of your journal with a mental health coach or therapist of your choosing. This feature is entirely opt-in and initiated by you. Here's exactly how it works:

  • You choose a recipient and an access password.
  • Wabii generates a link that, when opened, shows your recent journal entries (from roughly the last 30 days) and any weekly digests, along with your account name.
  • The link requires the password you set and does not require the recipient to create a Wabii account.
  • The link automatically expires 48 hours after it's created.
  • You can revoke access at any time before it expires.

Once someone has viewed content through this link, Wabii has no control over what they do with it afterward — the same as sharing a screenshot or a printed page. Only share the link and password with someone you trust.

5. Crisis and safety content

Wabii's in-app chat automatically watches for language associated with self-harm or suicidal crisis. If detected, Wabii responds with a fixed safety message pointing to crisis resources (in the US, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) instead of generating an AI reply for that message. This is an automated, keyword-based safeguard, not a monitored or staffed crisis service.

Wabii is not a crisis service, a medical device, or a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are in crisis or in danger, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line directly.

6. Data retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active, or until you ask us to delete it. Mental-health-coach sharing links and their associated access records are deleted automatically after they expire (48 hours) or are revoked.

7. Your rights and choices

  • Export: you can export your journal entries at any time from within the app.
  • Deletion: Wabii does not yet have a fully self-service in-app delete button. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at hello@wabiiapp.com from your account's email address, and we will delete it promptly.
  • Notifications: you can disable push notifications at any time in the app or your device settings.
  • Correction: since your journal entries are written entirely by you, you can edit or delete individual entries directly in the app.

8. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including secure credential storage on your device and encrypted connections between the app and our servers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but protecting your entries is a core design constraint of Wabii, not an afterthought.

9. Children's privacy

Wabii is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we've collected information from someone under 17, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us at hello@wabiiapp.com.

10. International users

Wabii is operated from India, and your information may be processed in India or by service providers located in other countries (including the United States, where Anthropic, OpenAI, and Supabase's infrastructure may process data). By using Wabii, you consent to your information being processed in these locations.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Wabii evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

12. Contact us

Questions about this policy, or requests related to your data, can be sent to hello@wabiiapp.com.
